My role: UX/UI Designer

In this project, my role was to design a user-friendly experience that supports introverted individuals in building confidence for job interviews.

The app allows users to practice by answering realistic interview questions, while AI technology analyzes their voice tone, pace, and emotional cues to provide personalized feedback and suggestions for improvement.

My responsibilities:

Design strategy, research, persona, user flow, wireframes, and visual design, low and high-fidelity prototyping, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

The problem

  • Most users don’t get helpful feedback after interviews, making it hard for them to identify what went wrong or how to improve for next time.

  • They often need more time to process questions and organize their thoughts, which can make real-time interview settings feel overwhelming.

Understanding the user

User research

My secondary research showed that interviews are especially stressful for introverted people, who often fear being judged or misunderstood. Many struggle to express their strengths in high-pressure settings.

I also learned how important structured, guided practice is—users want clear examples and real-time feedback, especially around voice tone and emotional delivery.

In online communities, I saw a common wish: to train privately and receive honest, supportive feedback. People were excited by the idea of using technology to improve without relying on others.

Pain points

  • Introverts lack access to tools that could analyse their voice & tone - key factors that influence how confident and competent they appear.

  • After failed interviews, they had no clear insight into what went wrong, which led to repeating the same mistakes and feeling stuck.

  • Many didn’t know how to prepare effectively or which types of questions would be asked, making the process feel unpredictable and intimidating.

Persona

Problem statement:

Daniel is a talented yet introverted junior developer who struggles with interview anxiety and self-expression under pressure. He’s looking for a safe, supportive way to practice answering questions and get meaningful feedback to build his confidence.

Mapping Daniel's user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to a dedicated AI Interview Trainer App

Paper Wireframes

I took the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper to make sure that all the elements would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritised a quick and easy ordering process to help users save time.

Digital wireframes

After choosing a specific category to work on, the user is able to check here the existing questions. By tapping the play button, you can check a possible response after which the count down starts in order to record yourself replying that specific question.

After submitting the response, the user is able to analyse the results on two main segments: speech and facial analysis.

At the bottom of the page the user will receive multiple suggestions on different areas of improvement:

  • STRUCTURE & CLARITY

  • COMMUNICATION STYLE

  • EMOTIONAL TONE

Observations

  • Users need feedback that is gentle, clear, and supportive, not robotic or overly critical.

  • Users expect the app to adapt to their job category, experience level, and past performance.

  • Instead of vague advice, users need specific suggestions they can act on, like adjusting voice tone, slowing speech, or being more expressive.

  • Users want to see how they’re growing. They need a way to track their development across sessions.

Next, we ask about the user’s experience level so we can tailor the interview questions to match their skills, keeping everything relevant and helpful.

To keep the experience clean and focused, we first ask users to choose their area of interest. This way, we only show them job roles and details that match what they’re looking for, avoiding overwhelm and making the interface feel more personalized.

Based on the user’s onboarding answers, we show a filtered list of jobs that match their profile. This helps remove the need for a search bar and keeps the experience quicker and more focused.

This screen shows potential interview questions tailored to the user’s job role. A play button lets them preview a sample answer for guidance, and once tapped, a countdown begins, giving them time to record their own response in a realistic setting.

Next, users receive clear, focused suggestions based on their speech analysis, grouped into three helpful categories: Structure & Clarity, Communication Style, and Emotional Tone. This layout makes it easy to understand where small adjustments can make a big impact,  without feeling overwhelming.

This screen delivers a facial analysis feedback, based on the user’s recorded answer. It highlights both strengths and areas for improvement in a balanced tone, encouraging progress without creating pressure. The goal is to support users in building confidence, not to overwhelm them, so the suggestions are always constructive, calm, and easy to act on.
